Internal Quality Assurance Cell
The establishment of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in 2024 in our institution was a pivotal step towards ensuring the continuous enhancement and sustainability of quality in higher education institutions. The purpose of the IQAC is not only to monitor and improve institutional performance but also to foster an environment where quality improvement is a continuous and ingrained process within the institution's system.
As outlined, the IQAC plays a significant role in the post-accreditation phase by:
- Conscious Improvement:Ensuring that improvements in various aspects of the institution, from academic to administrative, are made deliberately and consistently.
- Consistent Monitoring: Keeping track of institutional progress to make sure that improvements are sustained over time.
- Catalytic Role: Motivating and encouraging faculty, staff, and management to pursue higher standards in teaching, learning, research, and infrastructure.
- Systematic Approach: Developing structured strategies and systems for continuous quality enhancement in alignment with national and international standards of education.
- Academic Excellence: Focusing efforts towards enhancing academic standards by improving curriculum design, teaching methodologies, student engagement, and research output.
IQAC can help the institution maintain a culture of quality improvement and ensure that it meets the expectations of accreditation bodies, stakeholders, and the wider academic community. It also supports institutional efforts to stay relevant and competitive in the ever-evolving landscape of higher education.
Objectives
The primary aim of IQAC is to
"Establish a system that ensures mindful, consistent, and transformative actions to enhance the institution's academic and administrative performance. Foster initiatives that drive quality enhancement by embedding a culture of excellence and adopting best practices in institutional operations."
Strategies
IQAC shall evolve mechanisms and procedures for
- Ensuring the timely, efficient, and progressive execution of academic, administrative, and financial responsibilities.
- Offering relevant, high-quality academic and research programs.
- Promoting equitable access to and affordability of academic programs across diverse social groups.
- Enhancing teaching and learning through the integration and optimization of modern methods.
- Upholding the credibility of assessment and evaluation processes.
- Maintaining, allocating, and ensuring the adequacy of support structures and services.
- Facilitating the dissemination of research findings and fostering collaborations with institutions in India and abroad.
Function
Some of the expected functions of the IQAC are:
- Establishing and implementing quality benchmarks for academic and administrative activities within the institution.
- Creating a learner-centric environment that fosters quality education and supports faculty development in adopting relevant knowledge and technology for an engaging teaching-learning process.
- Collecting and analyzing feedback from students, parents, and stakeholders to enhance institutional quality processes.
- Disseminating information on key quality parameters in higher education.
- Organizing inter- and intra-institutional workshops, seminars, and quality circles to promote best practices.
- Documenting programs and activities that contribute to continuous quality improvement.
- Serving as the institution’s nodal agency for coordinating quality-related initiatives, including the adoption and dissemination of best practices.
- Developing and maintaining an institutional database through MIS to enhance quality management.
- Cultivating a culture of quality within the institution.
- Preparing and submitting the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) to NAAC as per its guidelines and parameters.
Composition
The IQAC may be constituted in every institution under the chairmanship of head of the institution with heads of important academic and administrative units, a few teachers and a few distinguished educationists / representatives of local committee. The composition of the IQAC may be as follows:
- Chairperson: Head of the Institution
- A few senior administrative officers
- Three to eight teachers
- One or two members from the Management
- One/two nominees from local society
- One of the teachers as the coordinator of the IQAC.
